United States soccer star Abby Wambach was arrested on a charge of DUI early Sunday morning in Portland, Ore.
The 35-year-old Wambach was booked and charged with misdemeanor DUI at 2:02 a.m. Sunday, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office. She was released on her own recognizance.
A DUI charge in the state of Oregon carries a two-day minimum jail sentence for a conviction. Wambach could face up to a year in jail. She also faces a one-year licence suspension and a fine of up to $2,000.
Wambach retired from soccer after helping the United States win its third World Cup title - and first since 1999 - last summer.
She's the leading career scorer - male or female - in international soccer.
Wambach played in four World Cups with the United States won Olympic gold medals in 2004 and 2012.
